Alanis, while completely failing to grasp the actual definiton of the word "ironic," writes some serious soul-wrenching shit. Might I recommend "Plea from a Cat Called 'Virtue'" by the Weakerthans instead?
I tried to find a clip of it, but could only come up with this home movie someone made using the song as a soundtrack... so feel free to ignore the video portion. The song is an open letter, from a cat to his depressed owner. And it kinda rocks: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Xnlc-irbU1c
All the people we used to know They're an illusion to me now. Some are mathematicians Some are carpenter's wives. Don't know how it all got started, I don't know what they're doin' with their lives.
The juxtaposition of mathematicians and carpenter's wives is as brilliant as it is statisitcally improbable. The man was a lyrical genius.

And dreaming of people I went to college with and haven't seen or even thought of in 20 years.
When I read this, I thought of Dylan's "Tangled up in Blue".
