Nothing to read into, here…

…I've just been replaying this song over and over in my head for some strange reason.

And dreaming of people I went to college with and haven't seen or even thought of in 20 years.

Portentous?

Alanis, while completely failing to grasp the actual definiton of the word "ironic," writes some serious soul-wrenching shit. Might I recommend "Plea from a Cat Called 'Virtue'" by the Weakerthans instead?

I tried to find a clip of it, but could only come up with this home movie someone made using the song as a soundtrack... so feel free to ignore the video portion. The song is an open letter, from a cat to his depressed owner. And it kinda rocks:

When I read this, I thought of Dylan's "Tangled up in Blue".

All the people we used to know
They're an illusion to me now.
Some are mathematicians
Some are carpenter's wives.
Don't know how it all got started,
I don't know what they're doin' with their lives.

The juxtaposition of mathematicians and carpenter's wives is as brilliant as it is statisitcally improbable. The man was a lyrical genius.
